2021 LPC COVID Cohort Policy

The health and safety of our campers, rental guests and staff is Lone Prairie Camp's top priority and we are committed to heeding current government restrictions. We very excited to once again host onsite overnight campers, but we must do so with appropriate COVID-19 risk mitigation measures and in a way that does not unduly risk subsequent weeks. Therefore, in addition to the onsite risk mitigation measures we will have in place, we are asking our staff to do the following:
  • Please register for an online Alberta Health Services "MyHealth Records" account as soon as possible. In the event that you need COVID-19 testing because of symptoms or because of an identified close contact, having an AHS "MyHealth Records" account can significantly speed up test results. The registration process requires requesting a code by snail mail, so please register for an account as soon as possible.
  • For the health and safety of our campers and staff, Lone Prairie Camp will be functioning in a cohort system this summer for as long as we are required to do so by either published guidelines or the isolation and quarantine rules. Working within a cohort system will limit the number of close contacts for everyone onsite which not only reduces the chances of contracting COVID-19 but will also help prevent all of LPC's staff being in quarantine simultaneously. However, for the cohort system to be effective, we are asking all LPC staff (both paid and volunteer) to not become close contacts with other LPC staff outside their cohorts even while off-site beginning 2 weeks prior to your arrival. If we do not maintain this cohort separation even offsite, ONE confirmed case of COVID-19 would require cancelling 2-3 weeks of summer camp.1
  • It is critical that you take care of your physical health this summer as anyone with COVID-19 symptoms will need to go home and get tested and losing a staff member will likely also require sending at least one cabin of campers home. Summer camp is a very demanding commitment, so it is vital that you do your best to eat and sleep properly before and during camp.
1 The COVID-19 isolation and quarantine rules change significantly once you are "fully-vaccinated" and "you are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving both doses in a 2-dose vaccine series." We still ask you to use discretion after being fully vaccinated and we don't know exactly what the government guidelines will be, but it is very likely that you will have increased freedom once you are fully vaccinated. Some pharmacies are allowing overnight summer camp staff to book 2nd doses before July. If you are having trouble booking your second dose, please contact us.

I have read and understand the above.
